Overview : As part of a design challenge for a Citibank interview, I was tasked with transforming the Trade Operations team's trade reconciliation process. The existing system was riddled with manual processes, prone to errors, and lacked user-friendly tools for efficient reconciliation. My mission was to design a Trade Reconciliation Dashboard that streamlined workflows, improved accuracy, and enhanced the overall user experience.
My Role : UI/UX designer
Tools Used : Figma, Miro
Timeline : 48 hours

Problem 1: Citi's trade reconciliation platform handles highly sensitive financial data, making it a prime target for unauthorized access and potential security breaches.
The existing system might have vulnerabilities or lack robust security measures, increasing the risk of unauthorized access and data breaches.
Solution: To mitigate security risks, I implemented mandatory multi-factor authentication (MFA) for all user logins. This requires users to provide multiple forms of identification to access the platform, enhancing security and protecting sensitive data.

Problem 2: Identifying and investigating discrepancies in trade data was time-consuming, with challenges in tracking inconsistencies across multiple data sources.
Solution: To address the challenge of scattered and incomplete trade information, I developed a comprehensive discrepancy management system. This centralized hub provides filters, notifications, and visual indicators to quickly identify and manage discrepancies across all trades. It also offers detailed information about each trade, including price differences and mismatched unit information, making it a one-stop destination for trade reconciliation. It also has options such as “mark for investigation” or “manually match” to provide flexibility in handling discrepancies.

Problem 3: The platform lacked an intuitive interface, making navigation complex and hindering the efficient analysis of large volumes of trade data.
Solution: I created a user-friendly dashboard to provide a clear overview of trade reconciliation data. Trades are categorized for easy identification, and color-coded statuses highlight potential issues. Customizable widgets allows to personalize the display of key metrics, such as total trades, pending trades, and graphical representations, ensuring a tailored and efficient user experience.

Problem 4 :Unable to view existing notes or comments on a trade that has already been worked on by another analyst. This lack of visibility into previous actions and communications hinders collaboration, creates potential for duplicated effort, and slows down the reconciliation process.
Solution: To enhance collaboration and knowledge sharing, I introduced an "Add Notes" feature within the platform. This allows users to document their findings, annotate discrepancies, and share insights directly on a trade. Additionally, the feature includes an option to tag team members, ensuring relevant parties are notified and kept in the loop.

Research : Research Analysis : Proposed a new layout design, categorizing navigation features like Engagements, Document Requests, and Support for a more intuitive user experience.user-friendly design to simplify the navigation and viewing of client-associated engagements, addressing complexity. Dashboards with features like Simplified Document upload, download, and review pages to automate manual processes.Advocated for responsive page designs to ensure multi-device accessibility (mobile, tablet, desktop) for business clients, enhancing overall usability.

Design System:
To ensure consistency and efficiency, I leveraged the SALT design system to develop the user interface of the application within the given timeframe.
